THE PARTITION OF India - BADRUDDIN UMAR - 2026
India's partition was shaped by more than religious differences. According to Badruddin Umar, British colonial policies, growing competition between Hindu and Muslim elites, and decades of political compromise transformed social divisions into communal conflict. Rather than confronting colonial rule directly, Congress and the Muslim League became locked in a struggle over power-sharing—culminating in the partition of India and Bengal in 1947.
