The 2nd Swapan Chakravorty Memorial Lecture will be held on 29th July, 2026, from 3 pm at the P.C. Mahalanobis Auditorium. The speaker for this year is

, Professor of Film Studies, Jadavpur University. The title of his talk is 'Image, Territory, Representation'. Here's a brief abstract of his talk: "The critique of representation has passed through many phases. But representation keeps calling attention to itself because of its persistence in political and aesthetic worlds. This talk attempts to see if Indian artists have sometimes gone beyond the terms of representation as they shared an imagination of space and territory. Through examples of painting and writing, it explores the possible formation of a vision of land that rendered the status of its object uncertain." All are welcome.
