Braille graffiti on the wall of the Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India--a rare performance by students

05 March 2020
Society for the Visually Handicapped (SVH) congratulates Ishan Chakraborty, visually impaired Assistant Professor at the Dept of English, Jadavpur University, Kolkata, for inspiring his students to innovate and etch out a Braille graffiti on the wall of the Jadavpur University as a student assignment. They wrote in Braille "Sub-altern" by using halved tennis balls.See attached news published in ABP 04 March 2020.

This is specially so because Ishan having lost his vision in his adolescence, invested a lot of hard work to learn English Braille from me soon after his HS exam paying regular visits to our Braille Library accompanied and assisted by his mother Poly.

We at SVH take pride on the fact that he has climbed up steps through sheer merit and perseverence, added new dimensions in his life and we,from SVH wish him all success in all his endeavors!
